Looks like the gov’s bluff regarding pulling out of the Universal Postal Union worked.
As of July 1, 2020, foreign sellers shipping small packages into the US (under 4.4 lbs) will no longer have ridiculously cheap shipping.
From what we’re hearing, once the package arrives in the U.S., the Chinese shipper will have to pay the full ground cost that U.S. based shippers currently do (at least).
In other words, no more $2 shipping from China when it takes effect in 9 months.
USPS rates for China shippers should are likely to be brought into line with Fedex and UPS international rates.
Great news for all U.S. e-commerce sellers and small business. 2020 is looking better already.
